Work & Live like a Chocoholic
How many of us work and live like workaholics? I know I do. Because I love what I do, I can get lost in following my passion for great design. Unfortunately, that term workaholic usually has a negative connotation, but I choose to think of it like a chocoholic! I love to use the rich and creamy color of chocolate when designing a cozy room. I was lucky enough to snap the above photo in the Bernhardt showroom on a recent trip to High Point Furniture Market. Who wouldn’t love a cozy conversation in this rich room? It is so sophisticated! I vote we work and live like chocoholics! I love chocolate! People crave chocolate because it makes them feel as good as it tastes. When we create a tasteful, chocolate colored room we surround ourselves with yummy richness…and that makes us feel wonderful!

I plan to enjoy work the way I enjoy chocolate. Design work has rich and rewarding moments. It feels good to finish a project. I can execute smaller projects like snacks, working for a short and sweet result. Just that little “nibble” of a makeover works magic, leaving clients feeling satisfied and delighted. I can also enjoy all the artistry, skill and challenge that go into designing and completing a major remodel, much as a master dessert chef might create a one-of-a-kind chocolate soufflé. Work we love offers a richness to life that is addictive—in the most positive ways.
