Marsala – 2015 Color Of The Year!
Thanks to the many colorists, designers and trend setters at Pantone for always keeping us fresh and up to date. As a designer I look forward to learning early about the hot new color of the year. Usually we can see movement toward a trend even before the color is announced…and then again, sometimes we are surprised.
One of the first hints that a color is getting hot is that we start to see it showing up in fashion before we ever see it in home decor. It is easy to recall the many deep shades of Marsala nail polish that became so popular just a short time ago.
Marsala’s many shades make it so versatile, so wonderful! It is almost hard to pin down. What shade exactly is Marsala? I know I have been in detailed discussions with other designers about the color. Some play up the more purple tones, while some like Marsala with more of a yellow touch. I think the deep “red-purple” tone is perfect.
Our young clients in their West U Bungalow love the richness of Marsala. In their living room, which also doubles as the music room, we paired it with the equally sophisticated color of champagne. This combination creates a special elegance in the room. The living room is welcoming, a bit more formal than the other rooms but still hip…a great place to have a cocktail and listen to music.
With so many shades of this fabulous color I say — surround yourself in the beauty of Marsala.
