Makeover Madness
It is said that “a well-ordered home can bring a sense of peace”. I know from experience the wisdom in those words. When the world seems MAD with stress and demands, a little “makeover madness” can put your life, home, office and mind back in order.
This well designed kitchen by Kohler showcases order, good design and top quality products. I used the same style Kohler sink for a makeover project in a client’s utility room. You can see the sink and updated space in the photo below.
The back door and popular entrance to this home opens into the utility room shown above. The space originally did not have a sink. It was a cluttered catch-all for everything from “honey-do” projects to large bags of dog food (now stored in the drawer under the sink). A new, well designed, closet holds brooms, vacuum cleaner, and other cleaning supplies. This utility room has been transformed into a work room with room for projects and supplies on hand. The room now greets the home owners as well as neighbors in a fresh and orderly way.
A home office is another work horse we use all the time. Why shouldn’t it be organized, effective and inspirational? Give it a makeover. I am inspired by the clean, simple, orderly design of the home office above featured in Busy Door .
Finally, here are a few simple steps to start your makeover. Get your space clean! Call a cleaning service or do-it-yourself. Work from the top down to make ceilings, walls, floors, carpet, windows, faucets, and fixtures look great. Dust, scrub, and polish until everything sparkles, smells clean and is in order. Clutter, broken or unused items only add to the madness. So paint, repair, or replace old and broken items. Sell or donate unused things. You’ll enjoy reclaiming space as well as feeling renewed.
